Before you start your journey with GP Strategies, here are some things to consider.
The biggest learning experience our existing HCM clients usually have is that Employee Central cannot be fully customized into every detail. This is a shift from the traditional on-premise solutions, where every nice-to-have feature can usually, at a cost, be implemented. This is in fact a blessing in disguise. Because with a simpler system closer to the best practice standards, operations and maintenance become simpler, quicker and cheaper.
Moving to the cloud, with SuccessFactors and Employee Central, SAP delivers a robust framework where enhancements and fixes are released to all clients at the same time. There is no need for clients to initiate the complicated process of applying patches themselves or engage consultants for the task.
That said, the framework does allow clients to have their Employee Central instance configured to their needs. Requirements that do not fit into the pre-delivered areas of Employee Central can be added to the system through the Metadata Framework (MDF), which enables basic extensibility. Combined with programming-like business rule logic, there are few limits.
For requirements that are more complex the SAP HANA Cloud platform delivers the capability to provide fully customized extensions to the BizX platform including Employee Central.
You should however still be aware that although Employee Central provides a powerful framework for areas such as approval workflows or leave of absence requests, no pre-delivered content is delivered with the product in these specific areas. Stressing the importance of selecting an implementation partner that has experience with the product including reusable content.
